Quick Take
Quick Take: A Cisco DNA delivery includes the subscription in the customer's own Smart Account, with the PID and the remaining term visible. A token that makes the switch forward, with no account handed over, delivers the chassis. It does not deliver the subscription.

For a China enterprise RFQ, TAOHAN issues a dated quote. Any channel price on that quote is pending confirmation. A 13% VAT special fapiao can be issued with the invoice. If the site will not use Catalyst Center or SD-Access, buy DNA Essentials for 3 years and do not renew. SD-WAN controller mode must renew. C9600 and C8500 have no Essentials tier.
Forwarding is not the subscription
Quick Answer: Cisco DNA is delivered when the term sits in the customer's Smart Account. Activating a device with a token only registers that device to the account which created the token. If you never hand the account over, the customer can use the switch and still not own the subscription.
This matches what many docks actually ship: no DNA login, a token applied in the staging rack, and a switch that passes traffic on arrival. Traffic passes because the perpetual Network Stack is already on the hardware. The token did not purchase a new 3-year right in the customer's name. If a subscription exists at all, it remains in the account that minted the token. That account's admin can remove the device later. The customer cannot see the end date, cannot renew, and does not hold the TAC entitlement that rides with the term.
Say this in the handover email in one sentence. The chassis is theirs. The subscription is theirs only when the Smart Account screen shows it. A token string in a packing slip does not substitute for that screen.
Working ports vs a Smart Account screen is the delivery test. The port can be up either way. The subscription is theirs only when the account shows it.
What the customer must be able to see
Quick Answer: The customer must see their Smart Account name, the subscription PID, and the term end date. They do not need your staging password. They do need the entitlement in their account. A 3-year Essentials line is the minimum when they will not use Catalyst Center, and you should tell them renewal is optional unless SD-WAN Manager is in the design.
| You shipped | Customer can forward | DNA counts as delivered |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware plus their Smart Account showing the term | Yes | Yes |
| Hardware plus a token, no account | Yes | No |
| Hardware registered to your account | Yes | No |
Delaying the subscription start by up to 60 days is a kindness when the site is not ready. It is still their subscription, with a date they can read. Do not hide the date because the project calendar is messy. Write the date down.
How to hand DNA over
Quick Answer: Place the subscription in the customer's Smart Account before you call the job delivered. Show them the PID and the end date. If they will not use DNA features, the line should be DNA Essentials for 3 years, and your note should say they may let it expire.
- Step 1. Order the subscription against the customer's Smart Account, not against a staging account you keep.
- Step 2. Show the customer the PID and the end date on that account.
- Step 3. If they will not use Catalyst Center, make the line Essentials for 3 years and say renewal is optional.
- Step 4. Do not describe a token as the delivery. Describe the account screen.
You are not being asked to publish a registration procedure. You are being asked to stop equating "the port is up" with "the license is theirs." The port is up either way.
Typical scenario: staging rack, then the truck
Quick Answer: A typical scenario is a seller who stages switches, applies a token, checks that ports come up, and ships without a Smart Account invite. The customer signs for working gear. They have not signed for DNA. Fix the paperwork before the truck, or state in writing that the subscription was not part of this delivery.
Label this as a typical scenario. If the purchase order said DNA was included, the account view is part of acceptance. If the purchase order was hardware only, do not tell the customer DNA is activated. Tell them the perpetual stack is what they are running, and that a subscription was not delivered.
What you can promise
Quick Answer: You can promise a bookable subscription in their Smart Account, at DNA Essentials for 3 years when they will not use the features, with the end date visible, and with a plain statement that ordinary switching does not have to be renewed. You cannot promise that a token replaces that account.
Keep the promise short enough to paste into a quotation. Acceptance is 3x facts on one sheet: account, PID, and end date, plus tier and term. Anything about already activated belongs in a staging note, not in the commercial description of DNA. Customers who heard activated will think they bought the subscription. Your acceptance test should make that misunderstanding impossible.

References
Quick Answer: Cisco states that a product instance registration token adds the device to a virtual account, and that smart licenses are consumed from the customer Smart Account. Use those two facts as the delivery test. Forwarding on the perpetual stack is not a third fact that replaces them.

Key Takeaway
Key Takeaway: Hand the customer their Smart Account view, the PID, and the end date. DNA Essentials for 3 years is the minimum when they will not use DNA features. TAOHAN supplies that delivery with competitive pricing and China delivery, and states that the term need not be renewed.
